Album Review:Liberteer-Better To Die On Your Feet Than Live On Your Knees

One man wrecking machine Matthew Widener’s newest creation Liberteer sets its sites on global domination with the newest album Better To Die On Your Feet Than Live On Your Knees, which is set to drop on Relapse Records 1/31/12. Merging blasting war beats of anarcho-grind with triumphant passages and riffs that will stir a blazing beast within your soul Better To Die On Your Feet Than Live On Your Knees is the reformation of the American rebellion.

The album begins with the track “The Falcon Cannot Hear The Falconer,” which taunts a revolutionary instrumental, setting the soundtrack of a calling of the masses to shed the chains of state, church, and economic oppression. The Yankee Doodlesque piece is then eclipsed by a full on assault of in your face blast beats and grind syncopation that is dripping with the musings of upheaval in the face of tyranny that proceeds upon every subsequent piece thereafter. The messages of freedom, fighting for truth, and personal uprising can be found throughout, this album is pure unadulterated Anarchy.

The peak of intensity can be found midway within the tracks “That Which Is Not Given But Taken” and “Sweat For Blood,” espousing a call to arms as elevating instrumental breakdowns pave the way for a balance of rage and revolution that is downright inspiring. “When We Can’t Dream Any Longer” begins the decent into the finality of the album, beckoning a banding of brotherhood brought forth by an inherent repression that casts it’s gaze far beyond the truths we hold dear, and the lies we are forced to uphold.

Bottom line, Better To Die On Your Feet Than Live On Your Knees is unlike anything I’ve ever heard. This is an album clearly written to not only inspire but to stir the lingering dissipation of personal freedoms. The album itself is one tale being woven into the fabric of the human soul, begging for rapture and the clarity of mind. Don’t take my word for it though, check out the track “It Is The Secret Curse Of Power That It Become Fatal” in the player below and burn the system down 1/31/12.
