Where to begin? Alright, first off let me say that this is one of the most incredible albums that I have heard not only from Orange Goblin but in 2012 thus far. With that being said, let’s jump into it. Eulogy shows off the band’s trademark groove and sludge blend powerfully, skillfully, and of course masterfully, but the album itself transcends the definition of what’s held in standard by delivering 10 tracks that are all just as good as the one that followed. Very rarely do I come across an album that blows my mind from start to finish, this one does it with ease.
The album begins with Red Tide Rising which sets the pace for an all out assault of heavy hitting riffs that expand the verse in which their excellence is hardly contained. The tracking is powerful and yet not overbearing, giving the vocals room to shine above the melody, take hold of your subconscious, and beat it into submission. The album proceeds in brilliant procession until the midway through when the track Save Me From Myself changes the scope of what you’ve perceived from the album and carries over into the realm of “holy jumping jesus, I fucking love this album.” Which subsequently, is my favorite track Eulogy, although it is difficult to decipher amongst all the killer tracks laid upon one 49 minute album.
Bottom line, I really can’t say enough good things about this album. Each and every single track on Eulogy is worth listening to over and over again, if you aren’t hyped up about this album then you are should remain trapped within your hole of mediocrity. The album drops 2/14/12 via Candlelight Records, steal, kill, or viscerally dismember to get yourselves a copy of this one, of course if you want to get more info on the band you can check out their Facebook Page, get the fuck into it.
